15th September 1999
I hope that you all had an enjoyable summer holiday. I would like
to start this newsletter by welcoming Felicity to the pack. Emma and
Danielle have moved up to Guides, leaving us with a full pack of 24
girls.
Webb Ivory Fundraising Catalogues
Your daughter will either be bringing home a Webb Ivory catalogue
today or within the next few weeks. It would be helpful if you could
return the catalogue within 1 - 2 weeks whether you wish to place an
order or not. Please return your completed order form to Brownies.
Cash and cheques with the order please (made payable to 3rd South
Wallington Brownie Pack).
As I have previously mentioned, any commission earned on this
fundraising activity will be used towards the purchase of plastic
Brownie aprons to replace our existing and very worn material aprons.
I aim to place our first order at the beginning of October and a
second order by the beginning of November to ensure that all goods
are with you in plenty of time for Christmas.
Brownie Revels - Saturday 25th September
For those of you who are new, the above event is when we meet up
with the other 4 Brownie packs in the South Wallington District and
take part in a competition to win the Brownie Shield. We also sing
and play games together. Tawny Owl and I have arranged the event for
the district and it will be based in Carshalton.
We will meet at 10.50 a.m. in front of the Westcroft Leisure
Centre (there will be over 100 Brownies present so please ensure that
you bring your daughter either to me or to Tawny Owl. You will need
to collect your daughter from the same place at 4.00 p.m.
Each Brownie will need to:
1. wear uniform and cap if possible. Sashes are not required;
2. wear comfortable shoes or trainers as we will be walking around
a lot;
3. bring, in a backpack if possible,
a) a packed lunch with 2 cartons (not bottles) of drink
b) a waterproof jacket
c) a plastic carrier bag (to sit on while we have lunch)
Please complete the attached consent form and return it to me
either next Wednesday or on the day itself.
Harvest Festival - Sunday 26th September
Our first church parade of the new term will be here at Wallington
Methodist Church attending the Family Service. A small Harvest gift
(not necessarily fruit or vegetables) would be much appreciated, but
don't worry if you are unable to send one.
We will meet at 10.10 am inside the church, at the back and the
Brownies should be collected from inside the church at approx. 11.30
am. Smart uniform is required with sashes, tidy shoes, socks and
hair!
I do feel that attending church together is an important aspect of
Brownie life and I would expect all of the Brownies to make an effort
to attend unless, of course, there is a good reason why they can not
be there. Obviously any parents are also more than welcome to come to
worship with us.
Church Fair - Saturday 16th October, 10.00 a.m. - 2.00
p.m.
Please keep this date free. We have been asked to help at the
Church fair on that date. We will be helping by:
1. running a table sale (combined with Rainbows), so if you have
anything suitable that we could sell, please bring it in. 50% of the
proceeds will go to Brownie funds.
2. Helping with the Refreshments etc.
Further details will be available nearer the date.
Fire Safety Badge
Tawny Owl has been working very hard over the summer holiday to
organise with Wallington Fire Station for the Brownies to take this
very important badge.
Initially, 12 of the girls will take it. This will involve
attending Wallington Fire Station during Brownie time. The first
course will start on Wednesday 30th October and will run for 4 weeks
(excluding half term). More details will be given to the girls
involved nearer the time.
Brownie Web Site
The recent merger between Yahoo and Geocities has meant that the
web site was not where it was supposed to be. All has now been
rectified. The address is on the front page.
